A motor vehicle typically lands in a scrapyard at the end of its working life. After being decommissioned it is stripped for processing.
These large format images were taken at various industrial scrapyards inside the United Arab Emirates. Access had to be requested and it was challenging to receive permission to shoot freely. Although each yard has its own method of cannibalizing vehicles and their parts, they all function to fulfil the same purpose.
There is a certain melancholic irony to the way a vehicle is built piece by piece inside a sleek modern factory only to be broken down manually in a wrecking yard at the end of its life cycle. No matter how masterfully the vehicle performs on the roads, this fate is unavoidable.
